Description

We’re looking for a talented User Interface Designer who is passionate about digital product design, information graphics and Teleport’s mission to help people move around to the best places to live, work and make most of their lives.

As UI Designer, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from the early ideation phase to building pixel perfect mockups for variety of platforms. You will help to build a visual design system (including defining and documenting design rules) that enables our team to build software that fosters a delightful user experience.

We are looking for a full time employee. Joining a well-funded startup you will be able to use your full range of product design skills and you’ll get the chance to create the look & feel of a new product and brand from the ground up.

An ideal candidate for our international and remote working team will have the following skills:

  • You have a diverse portfolio of web and mobile app work that exhibits excellent use of typography, color, imagery, and graphic elements.
  • You think in terms of design systems and make rational design decisions.
  • You arrive at elegant, user-friendly solutions and are able to articulate how and why you got there with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You’ve been part of a team shipping software before and know how to balance the needs of users, UX designers, product managers and engineers.
  • You understand the technical limitations and liberties behind your design decisions.
  • You obsess over details and are excited to polish until your work is pixel-perfect.
  • You thrive in an environment with short feedback loops, where we try to make the hard calls to kill bad ideas and nourish the good ones as early as possible.
  • You love to test hypotheses and shepherd your ideas through multiple iterations of validation and development.
  • You have experience in a remote and lean working environment and you don’t mind working across several timezones.
  • You have exceptional skills in Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and you are skilled at digital and physical prototyping.
  • You have experience in information graphic design.
  • You love maps.

  • In addition, the following skills put you ahead:
  • Graphic design experience (degree strongly preferred)
  • Illustration & icon design experience
  • Knowledge of front end markup: HTML/CSS/JQuery/other
  • Motion design experience
  • Experience in user testing
  • Ability to measure pixels by eye
  • Last but not least, we welcome a broad range of qualified candidates to apply. There are not enough women in tech, and we believe in the value of diverse teams building global products.

  • We don’t expect every candidate to check all these boxes. What you don’t know, you should be self-motivated to learn. We hope you can show us a glimpse into that ability already during your work on the test task.

From a culture standpoint, we’d like you to relate to and use our product while developing it. That should fit well with startup people with both (a) the urge to live in new places and (b) the skills to continue effectively working with the rest of the team when remote. For starters, you will be teleporting between Tallinn and Silicon Valley in addition to wherever else you want to be.

To indicate your interest in joining Teleport, please send a short cover letter describing why you think you’d best fit the Teleport team and a portfolio of your best work to.
