Description

Role: Senior Software engineer

Rate: £38 - £38 per hour

Duration: 6 months

Location: Hampshire

Seeking experience Software engineer with experience in developing complex, numerically-oriented algorithms and systems in either VHDL or on a modern DSP (and preferably both) for a 6 month rolling contract.

The successful candidate will be working within in the PHY team of a successful telecommunications company. Work within the PHY team is primarily divided between protocol development (Physical Layer) and device driver development.

Most of the development work is done in VHDL/DSP/C/C++ in an Embedded environment although there is some PC development required to provide device driver interfaces.

Stated knowledge/familiarity with some radio telecommunications standard (such as W-CDMA, WiMAX etc) a bonus. The ideal candidate to have experience and an interest in both hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities:

- Development in Embedded 'VHDL/DSP/C/C++'

- Development and integration test of the lower level software - Analysis of LTE/3G/2G specifications.

- Work within the software development methodology used in the Platform Group.

Skills Required:

- Very good mathematical background

- Minimum 5 years commercial full-lifecycle software development experience

- Minimum 5 years experience of programming in C/C++ - Embedded software development experience

- Practical experience with, and knowledge of, the LTE and/or UTRAN Layer1 interface

- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately at all levels. - Proven track record of expertise in large, complex low level Real Time software systems

- Pro-active problem solver, able to understand the role of Layer 1 in the complete system

- Able to work to tight timescales, resolving conflicting priorities and requirements

- Experience of programming in VHDL/DSP
