ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
GTN Technical Staffing is looking for a Senior SQL Developer for a 6+ month contract with a global company that has a large transactional database (1.3 TB). The Senior SQL Developer will be passionate about SQL because you will be designing logical database models (logical and physical models in concert with the project architect) and providing technical guidance during each phase of the development process.
The Senior SQL Developer will spend 80% of your time in SQL development and 20% of your time in C# development using C#, Web Services, SOA, WCF and MVC. The Senior SQL Developer will:
- Provide performance tuning and optimization of existing SQL code.
- Provide technical support for the database environment and database objects such as stored procedures, functions, triggers, tables, and views.
- Work with developers, business analysts, other team members and clients to review the business requirements and translate them into database objects.
- Design and develop SQL Server Objects ( Tables, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and Views, temp tables, table variables and User defined types) using Transact SQL ( T-SQL ).
- Participate in T-SQL code reviews and technical quality standards reviews with the development teams.
- Collaborate with the database administration team to support the database deployment and maintenance.
- Perform index analysis for internal and external fragmentation and rebuild/reorganize the indexes for improved performance
- Create, configure and deploy SSIS packages with Lookup transformations, Merge joins, and Fuzzy Look Ups and Derived columns with Checkpoints for multiple Data Flow tasks.
- Create SSRS drilldown and drillthrough reports
- Maintain technical documentation, such as run books and ticket documentation, providing information to support organizations such as the help desk and QA teams.
- Work with business owners and analysts in planning and estimating throughout the complete life cycle, as well as identify and evaluate alternatives and present the most efficient and cost effective solution.
- Work in an Agile environment ( Scrum ).
- Create, maintain and publish data models, data dictionaries and entity relationship diagrams using industry standard tools and technologies
TOP REQUIREMENTS (Advanced level of knowledge in using these technologies is preferred):
- T-SQL development
- Performance Tuning/Optimization of existing code
- Logical and physical database modelling
- Overall SQL Server performance tuning and optimization
- Logical and physical database modelling, as well as designing database schema, stored procedures, triggers, and other database related objects.
- Advanced knowledge of T-SQL/Stored Procedure/Function programming and design
- Progressive experience developing, unit testing and troubleshooting SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014. This includes SSRS and SSIS as well as experience with Visual Studio Team Foundation Servers.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of designing and implementing ETL using SSIS Strong analytical skills
- 1+ years of programming in C#
- You must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- You must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional assets:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is preferred
- Experience programming in C# with Web Services, SOA, WCF and MVC strongly preferred
- Visual Studio 2012, TFS, MS Outlook 2010, SQL Server 2012, Windows 7, RedGate SQL tool preferred
- Experience with PowerShell or other Scripting languages is a plus
