Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a temporary assignment with a major telecommunications company and benefit from accredited training. As a Service Enablement Engineer you will be responsible for work related to maintenance, provision, installation, recovery, commissioning or modification on Openreach network services provided by the Main Distribution Frame (MDF). You will take work from the Work Manager system, Line Management and Control Centre people to meet the requirements of the job in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

Key Job Responsibilities
Provision & maintenance on all services delivered by a Main distribution frame (MDF) eg PSTN, ADSL, Local Loop unbundling (LLU) etc. Predominantly this requires the termination of wires by using either a soldering iron or IDC inserter.
Performing continuity and/or system testing.
Progressing jobs through the Work Manager Allocation tool and or the Bulk Migration Robot.
Ensuring that all work is carried out safely, employing correct working methods for which training is provided, to meet set targets.
Completing tasks and meeting agreed time-scales as provided by Work Manager, BMR and Line Management.
Carrying out work at various high and low levels using travelling ladders where appropriate.
Working on BT equipment in accordance with current procedures and safe working practices as provided by BT and its suppliers.

The successful person will have:
Previous experience in engineering, construction or similar craft requiring manual dexterity.
Capability to undergo and assimilate technical, operational and safety training.
Proven ability to work as part of a team.
A professional, helpful and positive approach to work.
A UK driving licence with no more than 6 points and use of own vehicle.

The successful candidate must be able to:
Work inside BT premises
Work in confined spaces
Climb ladders, working both at height and low levels
Perform work whilst on ladders
Successfully complete a colour blindness test

The successful candidate must be prepared to:
Travel during each shift to work in different telephone exchanges
Attendance Pattern will be a 5 day week Monday to Friday. Start time 0800 â 0900. Overtime may be available Dependent on skills and locations.
Attend a 2 day induction and training course, necessitating an overnight stay away from home.

Previous experience in similar roles in the telecommunications industry
