Description

Do you want to be crucial in architecting the success of two exciting new projects for one of the world's most prestigious automotive and motor racing names?

Due to winning new projects from our long-term client, we are seeking a dynamic, skilled and committed contract Data Architect to put the right foundations in place, and enable the projects to deliver real long term benefit to the business. The client provides an excellent work environment and a highly rewarding level of challenge and interest.

Two projects are involved: the first involves the processing of billions of records of telemetry data per race season, and distilling them down into a normalised database that can be reported on. A particular challenge here is that there may be a need to completely reprocess the source telemetry data at any point as analysis rules change, and this process must not take longer than overnight.

The second project is a more traditional business transaction system, which needs significant refactoring at the database level in order to properly support the business into the future.

Candidates should be experts in the application of relational database technology to problems of this kind involving large data sets, and should preferably also be proficient in non-relational data solutions, and be able to recommend and assist in implementing the chosen solution.

Candidates will, therefore, need to demonstrate credible experience in solving complex data-related problems. Candidates who have done this in an engineering context, or who have an engineering background, will be at an advantage, but applicants without such a background will be considered.

Finding the right individual is key, and the rate is therefore negotiable.

Required hard skills:

  • Significant and demonstrable experience on complex database solutions involving large data volumes
  • Expert knowledge of database solution and design patterns
  • Sound general knowledge of software engineering processes

Desirable hard skills:

  • Certification in Oracle/DB2 or other relational or non-relational databases
  • Experience of maths/engineering tools such as Matlab
  • Experience in an agile environment

Soft skills required:

  • An understanding of and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • High standards of personal integrity
  • Uncompromising quality standards
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Innovative
  • A mindset of continuous improvement
  • Team worker, self-motivated, self-disciplined, able to work on their own initiative
  • A positive attitude to unforeseen problems
  • An analytical approach to problems and high attention to detail
