About the Role
The MySQL DBA will provide expertise on large, high-volume database management across a variety of platforms. You will work on a wide range of projects, with trusted input into design, direction and technology decisions in addition to your primary role as an engineer. This will also include working with a number of technologies, providing opportunities to expand your capabilities in addition to aid in expanding those of others, who will benefit from your existing experience in managing large high volume databases. You will have the support of talented and highly experienced colleagues, each with an innate interest in technology and a desire to create software solutions of the highest quality. You will have strong Database Administration/DBA experience with MySQL, will have worked with Percona replication technologies, Backup Technologies and Transportable Tablespaces. You will have some experience of software development with Core Java, and will have worked with large, very high-volume databases in both development and support environments. You will have experience in performance monitoring and tuning (ideally across a variety of platforms including MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 and PostgresSQL) and in assisting in advice to developers in tuning application code to optimise database persistence technologies.
About the Client
My client is a prestigious, UK-based technology consultancy with a diverse client base. Their Bristol office services Bristol, South Wales and the South West and includes clients from financial markets, public sector/government organisations and automotive sectors. This position is an initial 3 month contract with a strong possibility of extension and further projects on other client sites in the pipeline.
