I currently have a fantastic opportunity in Cambridge. I am looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join an expanding company, making a genuine impact with what they do on a day-to-day basis. You will be passionate about delivering real and innovative solutions.

Role: Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £60,000

Summary:

Embedded Software Engineer needed to write low-level embedded control software on microcontrollers in C. Must have good understanding of digital electronics.

Description:

The purpose of the role is to write and maintain embedded firmware for our products.

Current products include firmware written in bare metal C targeting Microchip dsPIC33 processors. Future products may include firmware written in C on top of a RTOS targeting a Cortex-M4 based microcontroller.

The ability to introduce gradual change with breaking the existing code base is importance. Strong problem solving ability is essential. This role requires you to work with minimal supervision.

I am looking for Suitable candidates who will need to have, in decreasing order of importance:
  • MSc degree or equivalent in Electronics or Computer Science or Telecommunications strongly preferred to BSc.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong skills in C.
  • Experience working on a RTOS, preferably µC/OS-II or µC/OS-III.
  • Experience handling toolchains and makefiles.
  • Some ability in C++ would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with MISRA.
  • Experience with automated testing, preferably using Python.

The role reports to the Software Manager.
