Description

Financial Modeller with advanced Excel skills required for initial 8 week contract with public sector organisation in Edinburgh.

Main Duties

  • develop and implement financial models to support discussions and decision-making around price-setting for pay-per-view, subscription and licensing access to the data records
  • forecast and scenario plan future income streams from pay-per-view, subscription and licensing - demonstrating the impact of a range of future use scenarios on income levels
  • maximise the use of the data available - ensuring that the data is of sufficient quality and building in appropriate checks and controls
  • identify the necessary assumptions required when data is not available or of sufficient quality
  • make recommendations on the future pricing strategy

Interprets and uses accurate financial data to inform decision-making, investment appraisals and risk management implications.
Analysis & Use of Evidence:
Develops policy options and decisions using a range of evidence and research, to ensure that polices are aligned to outcomes.
Captures and securely organises knowledge & information for wider use across the organisation.
Improving Performance:
Uses relevant tools, techniques and skills development to facilitate continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria

  • An in-depth understanding of financial modelling and a working knowledge of accountancy
  • Experience of designing, building and populating financial models including analysis of historic trends
  • Good numeric skills and advanced Excel skills
  • Able to plan, organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to analysis complex information including numerical analysis, present key conclusions and withstand challenge from internal and external audiences
  • Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working in public sector
  • Experience of setting future pricing strategies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
