Senior Oracle Database Administrator- Gibraltar/Spanish border

Senior Oracle DBA who could start immediately, maximum 1-2 weeks, for a contract of 3 months. Infrastructure DBA Oracle 10g. Backups and Disaster Recovery plus specialist in Performance tuning.

Oracle DBA 10/11g required for a very dynamic and passionate team of individuals and are one of the core teams for the support and evolution of one of the best bookmaking and egaming integral software suites available in the market world-wide. The DBAs are primarily responsible for setting up, supporting and maintaining Oracle databases and PL/SQL applications with the DB Developers for all databases.

Our client is part of a group of companies developing and maintaining Gambling and Bookmaking software worldwide for the commercial online and retail gambling industry. They provide, maintain and support stable, scalable, fast, secure, efficient and modern modular e-gaming software suite for new and existing commercial public and private bookmakers from small to large sizes world- wide.

Technical Qualifications and knowledge Qualifications required:

  • Oracle Certified Professional or equivalent demonstrated skills and experience.

  • Degree in IT or equivalent Qualifications - Advantage.

  • PL/SQL Oracle Certification +++ 10/11g or 12c

  • Any MS Windows Certification for 2008 or higher

  • Any MySQL certification or experience. +

Required Technical Experience: Essential  

  • 3+ years as a senior production DBA working with Oracle 10g/11g

  • Experience supporting applications based on Oracle DB.

  • Experience on Backups management, High Availability and Disaster Recovery.

  • Experience on data replication using Oracle and third party tools.

  • Working with Standby Databases.

  • Supporting multiple systems from multiple customers.

Advantageous:

  • Working in production with Oracle running on active/passive windows 200x cluster or Unix High Availability systems. +++

  • Experience on Data Warehouse systems using ETL processes. +++

  • Experience on Business Intelligence systems from Oracle or other vendors.++

  • Working as part of project teams.

  • Experience tuning performance on Oracle 10/11g/12c.

Languages

  • Fluent English speaker conversational and technical required.

  • Spanish an advantage.

Other required skills:

  • Experience working as member of project and support teams required.

  • Knowledge of IT service desk tools and best practices.

  • Strong communication and reporting skills.

  • Proven troubleshooting skills.

Role responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, and production usage.

  • Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.

  • Performs ongoing monitoring and tuning of the database instances

  • Plans, implements and maintain Disaster recovery solutions, including Backup and standby DBS

  • Implements and enforces security for all of the Oracle Databases

  • Provides technical support and solutions to application development teams to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with production standards.

  • Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects/Application Server

  • Provide on call-support after working hours on a rota basis and assist in out of hours System

  • Be a coach to more junior members of the team, helping them develop.

  • Work with third parties to ensure that projects and support delivered by them are done so in accordance with production standards and SLAs.
