Fortune 500 Organization in Dunwoody GA is looking for a strong Sr. Database Administrator to join their team for an 18+ Month contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

. Providing daily (24*7) operational support of EDS production database environment including on call after hour support.

. Responsible for production MySQL database installation, configuration and administration.

. Providing troubleshooting skill for customer's problems and resolving of issues and reporting on all MySQL related issues for Windows.

. Responsible for monitoring, DB tuning and maintenance activities

. Managing MySQL objects including tables, indexes, views etc.

. Managing MySQL full database backup and data restore.

. Performing database user audits and accounts management.

. Implementing HA and disaster recovery solution to reduce unplanned downtime.

. Providing documentation both automated and manual procedures and processes.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

. Deep experienced on MySQL installation/configuration, management and troubleshooting.

. Experience working in large enterprise database environments with multiple databases with SAN storage.

. Hands on experience on coding, troubleshooting and performance tuning SQL and complicated reporting.

. Excellent programming using Shell Scripts (sh, bash, and ksh) and Perl.

. Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

. Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices.

. Working knowledge of MySQL versions 4 and version 5.

. Being able to perform operating system level i/o, cpu, memory and disk troubleshooting and performance tuning tasks using iostat, vmstat, and other tools.

. Experience using OEM to monitor and troubleshoot system, cpu, memory, disk, and performance issues.

. Maintaining user security.

. A motivated team-player and fast learner.

. Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally to peers and management.

. Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations.

DAY TO DAY:

. Monitor, maintain, and manage EDS production database environment including on call after hour support.

. Install, configure, create, and upgrade production MySQL databases.

. Resolve tickets: troubleshoot customer's problems and issues.

. Code and maintain production MySQL jobs.

. Provide MySQL resource/skills to multiple projects and product releases.

. Managing MySQL full database backup, archive log backup and data restore.

. Providing documentation both automated and manual.

REQUIREMENTS:

Clear understanding of networking concepts and server platforms.

MySQL certified preferred

Outstanding Scripting and querying skills.

3 - 5 years of experience with versions 4 and 5

BA/BS MIS/CIS or equivalent experience at least 8 years experience as a DBA role.

4 years enterprise level production databases support.

2 years' experience utilizing Netbackup backup.

2 years enterprise database development experience.

Knowledgeable of enterprise level applications.

Excellent written and verbal skills.
