ETL Developer

Excellent 12 month rolling contract based in Dublin CC.

The job:

Work closely with various business areas to pick up, transform and deliver time critical data files to trade, risk and position reconciliation systems.

  • File transmission - maintain, upgrade, configure and monitor various in house tools responsible for delivering files into the preprocessor processes. FTP and email are the most common forms of transmission. Need to handle PGP encrypted and compressed files, as well as certain proprietary file transmission processes.
  • Data Transformation - the majority of our data transformation uses Pervasive Data Integration, an Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tool. It has an imbedded VB-like Scripting language. Business rules for each of the file transformations are determined by various business operation groups. You need to work closely with these groups to implement the data transformations. Python and windows batch scripts are also used for various transformation steps in certain circumstances.
  • Monitoring, adding and deleting automated scheduled jobs.
  • Problem solving and bug tracking when problems arise with file transmission or transformations. Work with Support team on issues and answer process flow questions when necessary.
  • Tools development to help manage and monitor job configurations and environments.

Essential Experience

  • Strong knowledge of a Scripting language (Python, Perl, Unix Shell or PHP).
  • Experience with UNIX text searching/parsing commands (grep, SED, AWK, etc).

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with one or more of the following financial file formats: SWIFT, FIXml, Murex XML and FpML.
  • Experience with an ETL workflow.
  • Experience with test driven development practices.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic and XML.
