Electronic Design Engineer - Proteus, low noise op-amp's, high speed video amplifiers, PCB layouts
A Electronic Design Engineer with Proteus, low noise op-amp's, high speed video amplifiers and PCB layouts experience required to work on a six month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Southampton.
This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK Defence Business.
Overview of the Electronic Design Engineer contract role
To provide electronic support to the Test Engineering function, designing test equipment and bespoke electronics for Infrared systems. The candidate will be expected to undertake specification, design, test and characterisation of complex electronic boards for test equipment and IR camera systems, using a range of tools for schematic capture, simulation, layout and test.
Key skills required for the Electronic Design Engineer
- In depth design experience to include low noise op-amp's, high speed video amplifiers, ADC design.
- Experience of Proteus Electronic design suite.
- Confident to undertake PCB layout of schematic diagrams.
- Practical 'hands on' laboratory test and measurement skills.
- Ability to construct and repair electronic boards to component level.
- Good Soldering skills with ability to solder 0402 components/fine pitch devices.
- Knowledge of PCs and software installation.
- Ability to specify/construct and repair test looms.
- Ability to work closely in a team with other engineering and science disciplines.
- Experience of Electro-optic test.
- Knowledge of schematic capture/layout CAD tools.
- Ability to use/understand simulation tools and techniques.
- Ability to follow test instructions to characterise/test PCB assemblies and generate results.
- Ability to write test instructions.
- Ability to use SAP for deliverable proximity electronics.
- Degree/A Level in Electronics or Physics with a good background in Electronics
- Full Driving License.
The role is based in Southampton - commutable from Portsmouth, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Guildford, Aldershot, Crawley, Horsham, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester.
