Core Java eFX Developer - (Algo Trading & Hedging) - London - up to £700/day

The eFX Development Team is responsible for implementing low latency, high performance and Real Time electronic trading systems. This could involve building bespoke pricing and trading platforms, as well as distribution of market data to external clients. To strengthen the team we are looking for a Senior Java Developer to fill up this role. The role exists within an aligned IT group co-located within the FX department based on the London Trading floor.

Summary

The individual chosen will work closely with a small development team to both participate in new developments to support various business initiatives and support our existing applications. The business is ever changing and demands an agile development culture. The candidate must have a proven track record of being able to work in a highly dynamic environment with demanding clients and aggressive schedules. The successful candidate will gain excellent exposure to these business areas as well as the opportunity to work in a technically challenging, delivery focused environment.
The eFX Development Team is responsible for development and support of the full suite of eFX Market Making applications. The role would be focusing around applications for consuming exchange market data, generation of core internal prices, generation & distribution of client rates and processing incoming client trades.
While maintenance of the existing platform and interaction with the user community is a key part of the role, there is also the opportunity

Key Duties/Activities
Ensure a robust high-performance eFX Market Making platform that follows best practice in terms of architecture, configuration and capacity planning.
Identify areas of improvement and performance tuning to eliminate any bottlenecks or areas of latency.
Full testing of new versions of software (including Unit, Regression and SI), conducting test plans, analysing results and drawing conclusions with the user representatives.
To discuss issues and problems with users and ensure an understanding of the business needs, the related products and transaction flows.
To work with Financial Engineers, Business representatives and Business Analysts to understand the business needs and design potential solutions.
Manage the technical relationship with the external electronic market technology teams and internal development and connectivity teams.
Understand and influence components in use at the bank, identify functionality that can be replicated and improved by in-house development.
Provide 3rd Line support to existing systems to resolve problems, educate 1st/2nd Line RTB and continually improve the functionality and service levels to the business.

Key Requirements

Essential:
8 years of minimum experience of developing electronic Trading Systems using core Java
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Take ownership, help specify and deliver large scale projects and work under own initiative.
Capacity to take complex issues and explain them clearly and concisely to a wide audience.
Excellent communicator, able to work effectively with senior traders and other developers.
Understanding of workflows, key controls and related operational risk exposure.
Good understanding of FX Business and trading practices.

Desirable
Knowledge of FX STP Trade processing (Settlement, Fixings, Payment systems etc)
Agile Development Practices (TDD, BDD, Automated Builds, Continuous Integration)/Scrum, Kanban Methodologies
