Job Title: Senior Systems Test Engineer - Submarine Combat System Infrastructure
Location: Ash Vale, Surrey
Salary: Negotiable Hourly Rate Dependent on Experience (please provide a range for the search parameters - this will be hidden)
Contract Type: Temporary, 6 Month Contract

As a Senior Engineer - Submarine Combat System Infrastructure, you will be part of a dynamic team of Engineering and Project staff responsible for delivering the design, development, test, and deployment of the Common Infrastructure Subsystem. The Common Infrastructure utilises Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) virtualisation technology, computing, storage and networking functionality in shared computing environments combined with specialised bespoke sub-systems and equipment.
This is a varied, challenging and rewarding role where you will be able to develop your skills while working on some of the world's most complex engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
The company is looking for an autonomous, motivated person. Taking responsibilities for your own work, you will be confident to work without immediate supervision, and capable of indirectly supervising others around you to ensure the swift and accurate delivery of high quality work.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a variety of duties. These include, but are not limited to:
- Developing test and certification strategies and detailed test plans to gather evidence that demonstrates compliance with software and hardware requirements.
- Maintaining qualification plans and procedures to manage product acceptance testing.
- Performing product verification and qualification testing in accordance with project schedules, processes and standards.
- Assisting with the verification and configuration of Combat System software releases.
- Documenting observations and problems revealed during testing and assist with the investigation and identification of solutions.
- Formal system requirements management including definition, decomposition and compilation of compliance evidence.
- Assisting with the development of innovative certification and acceptance strategies to facilitate the exploitation of COTS technologies in a military environment.
- Supporting equipment and software integration trials on the submarine platform.
- Participating in the identification and development of innovative Common Infrastructure Product solutions.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified to at least HNC level or equivalent in an IT/Engineering related discipline
- Previous experience in Systems Engineering
- Requirements management experience and accompanying requirements management toolsets such as DOORS.
- Experience in testing and certifying complex systems including definition of test schedules, scenarios, scripts, environments and tools
Desirable:
- Experience of military products or extensive experience of resilient real-time systems
- Systems/Software Engineering experience
- Knowledge of COTS Infrastructure, systems architecture and networks
- Knowledge of military or aerospace engineering, certification and safety standards
- Experience of analysing problems encountered during testing and proposing solutions
- Knowledge of computing systems and software engineering methods, such as a real time network and storage systems
The company does carry out work in the area of critical national infrastructure and so ideal candidates would either have a national security clearance or be eligible to be security cleared.
