SemanticBits is looking to hire a talented QA engineer who can help us test the next generation clinical applications.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a fast learner and passionate about testing software. He or she has a strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, experience working across different technologies, and the ability to think critically about problems and choose the right course of action.

You will...

  • Develop, manage and execute test plans and test cases.

  • Generate test reports and traceability matrix.

  • Decompose high-level business requirements into test scenarios.

  • Setup and maintain test environments.

  • Deploy software in Linux environment from .jar and .war files.

  • Build automated data-driven test harnesses.

  • Use several open source testing tools/frameworks such as SOAPUI, Selenium

  • Investigate and conduct root cause analysis of software and system defects.

  • Work as part of a team and interact effectively with others.

  • Mentor and supervise junior members of the team.


  • Skills & Requirements

    In general...

    You’ll need to have strong problem-solving skills and should enjoy delving into emerging technologies, which includes both learning about them as well as implementing them. It’s also important to us that you can balance working with a team, which obviously requires strong people, verbal, and written communication skills, with working independently.

  • At least 4 years of experience in quality assurance (QA) of applications developed on the Java and J2EE platform

  • BS in Computer Science or related field


  • More specifically...

    We’re ideally looking for team members with most, if not all, of the following technical skills:

  • Hands-on experience with different types of testing (System, Regression, Smoke, Performance, Load etc)

  • Strong UNIX experience

  • Knowledge of relational database concepts and good SQL skills.

  • Hands-on experience testing and debugging Java-based software

  • Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture and messaging protocols.

  • Extensive experience testing Web Services using SoapUI

  • Hands-on experience in open-source tools and platforms (e.g. SoapUI, JMeter, Eclipse)

  • Proficient in one of programming or scripting languages.

  • Solid understanding of Software Configuration Management concepts and methodologies.

  • Proficiency with one of the source control tools (e.g. Subversion, Git).

  • Experience with Load, Stress and Performance testing
