My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a General Modeller for their Electrical Engineering division on a long term contract basis.

Position:General Modeller

Position Description:
This role is within the team responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, upgrades of the hardware and software to support the Hardware in the Loop, (HIL), Test rigs, and other support software and hardware to enable the validation and testing of ECU modules supported by the ADAS & Chassis Electronics section of Electrical Engineering. The role will be assigned to the Active Suspension project, but will not be limited to. The main responsibilities will be: Develop/Own HILST test environments (L3: Component and L4 Systems Level) for purposes of Vehicle ECU subsystems test/verification/validation. Capture all functional requirements for HILST environment to satisfy ECU/Systems test. (DOORS) Design/Develop HILST environment in alignment with formal requirements, using model based engineering approach (Simulink/Stateflow Develop/Support Development of bespoke tools/modules as required to support ECU test/validation (ISO14229 Diagnostics/Part 2/Part 1/CCP/Automated Test).

Skills Required:
Use/configure commercial tools as required to support ECU test/validation (Canalyzer, Canape, ASL, AVD, INCA, Vehicle Spy). Specification and design of discrete and state based control functions to meet functional requirements. Creation of simulation models & environments for offline function development. Involved in process and tool chain development and testing with reviewing of Simulink models. Produce/Deliver HILST/Systems to a defined release process/plan. (MS Project/Internal Standards). ECU functional modelling using Matlab/Simulink as where required. Simulink S-Function Development/Integration for purposes of Plant/Controller Function Simulation (M Script/C/C++). Use/integrate COTS Plant/Vehicle Models as required (Carmaker/DSpace ASM Calsim). DSPACE Toolchain Configuration/Usage (RTI Build Environment Setup/Control Desk Configuration). Support/Usage of Test Automation Tools (Automation Desk/TA Tool/Python Development). Production/Development Support of bespoke test modules as/where required to support ECU/Systems Test (Firmware C++//C/Basic Analogue/Digital CCT Design.

Experience Required:
Detailed knowledge of relevant modelling tools: Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow toolchain; dSpace tools, including target link, Control Desk, AutomationDesk; HIL architecture. Experience with relevant test and configuration tools: Automated test tools & script writing; Diagnostic Part 2 test tools; IPG car maker; CAN, FlexRay network tools. Good knowledge of mathematical control techniques, Plant modelling and Development experience of Real Time control systems.

Education Required:
Detailed knowledge of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow toolchain. Detailed knowledge of dSpace tools, including target link, Control Desk, AutomationDesk, HIL architecture. Experience using Software configuration tools, Automated test tools script writing. Diagnostic Part 2 testing, IPG car maker, CAN, FlexRay networks. Plant modelling and Development experience of Real Time control systems. Experience using Software configuration tools. Good knowledge of mathematical control techniques. Educated to degree level in relevant subject, with good communication skills.

Education Preferred:
Vehicle dynamics knowledge including active and passive chassis systems. Postgraduate Qualification (MSC/PhD) in Control Systems/Electronics.
