Description
A government department at Canberra is in urgent requirement for a n experienced Data Modeller.
The services will include and not be limited to:
- Database design and development, including:
- Development of the Enterprise Data Model;
- Conceptual Data Models;
- Logical Data Models;
- Physical Data Models;
- EDW Data Model;
Ensuring new data sources can be accommodated in the existing conceptual and logical data models by:
- Designing data tables against model and business rules (and to profile data behaviour) based on business rules and conceptual model;
- Providing modelling to be used by developers to build physical model;
- Profiling data against the logical model to identify data behaviours and identify/clarify data rules options that require business decision;
- Implementing standards (including design, development and unit testing standards);
- Developing, maintaining and unit testing system components;
- Coding, unit testing and correcting large or complex application and components;
- Problem diagnosis and resolution;
- Environment configuration;
- Assisting in improving the maturity of information management within the Department;
- Giving advice on information and data governance and standards;
- Defining and creating Logical Data Models;
- Ensuring alignment of stakeholders with data models;
- Identifying, designing and setting up workshops to meet outcomes;
- Capturing data requirements;
- Documenting all aspects of the data model design; and
- Perform Source System Analysis/Data Linage.
Selection Criteria
- Specified Personnel must hold a current security clearance (Baseline Vetting as a minimum);
- Specified Personnel must be willing to undergo and obtain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC);
- Demonstrated experience in design, architect, develop and deploy Relational, Dimensional and Polymorphic Data Model Solutions using EA tools eg EA Sparx;
- Solid experience working with Teradata and DB2 database physical design;
- Ability to perform complex and large data analysis and establish data models and relationships using Business Object Modelling techniques;
- Experience working with data design and development tools like IBM Data Studio, ERWIN, Teradata development tools SQL Assistant, ETL bulk loads;
- Expertise in Version Control and Document Data Model design and ability to support development teams with data requirements;
- Integration experience using MQ and data format experience with XML. WS is a plus.
- Ability to perform data requirement analysis to achieve business requirements;
- Able to assume ownership of existing data holdings eg Traveller and Cargo Data and provide operational support;
The contract period is Asap to 30th June 2016 with further extension options of 12 months. The specified personnel is required to have a minimum BASELINE security clearance prior to commencement.
