Job Description

I am looking for an experienced senior embedded C and C++ engineer who has worked with a small team of engineers in the software development lifecycle and has familiarity with systems running on a small RTOS, embedded linux and potentially a Java based OSGI platform or similar.

The Opportunity

This market leading company offers the chance to develop world leading products in the fast paced technology industry surrounding the internet of things. The successful candidate will be joining a small but rapidly growing team at an early stage, developing embedded software as part of the core of the company's offering , running on small RTOS, larger scale embedded linux environments and also OSGi type frameworks. The technologies being developed allow candidates to work with the latest in wireless communication from Z-wave through to BLE.

Experience and Skills

Required

This role requires someone who has worked in a small to medium sized company environment who is a self-starter with a can-do attitude. The following skills and experience are required:
  • Developing embedded systems in a Linux (nix variant) or similar RTOS environment
  • Experience building software in very small ROM and RAM footprint environments
  • 5+ years C/C++ development experience (embedded)
  • Standard networking protocols - e.g. tcp/udp/ip, http, xmpp
  • Git or similar distributed version control systems
  • Good working knowledge of developing as part of an internet based client/server architecture including developing against API such as XMPPs
  • TLS/SSL and related security technologies and libraries
  • Ability to pro-actively contribute to the design and development process
  • A computer science/software development or related degree
  • Fluent English with good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in the UK
