Principal Engineer (Mechanical) -with a strong knowledge of the theory and application of fluid flow systems.

A Principal Engineer (Mechanical) with a strong knowledge of the theory and application of fluid flow systems is required to work on a twelve month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a 12 month contract with a leading UK defence business.

Overview of the Principal Engineer (Mechanical) contract role

As the principal engineer you will be expected to undertake functional design and/or provide specialist advice and qualification of their scope of responsibility and provide evidence for acceptance and fitness for purpose and to confirm beyond reasonable doubt by review, surveillance and audit, that those assumptions underpinning engineering data, analysis methodologies and interpretation of results have been validated.

Key skills required for the Principal Engineer (Mechanical)

  • Theory and application of fluid flow systems (compressible and non-compressible fluids).
  • Theory and application of centrifugal pumps and pump-driven systems.
  • Extensive experience in fluid flow calculations (particularly using excel).
  • Understanding of system concepts and architectures.
  • Degree level education in a relevant engineering or science discipline.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District .
