Overview

Global Valuations Group (GVG) is a centralised function within Finance responsible for the independent valuation of trading positions for the Commercial Banking and Securities (CBS). The GVG remit covers market consistent modelling and valuation of all fair valued positions.

An Independent Price Valuation (IPV) Specialist is required to join the Valuations Control team to focus on supporting regulatory projects, providing subject matter expertise on valuation and regulatory change initiatives. This role would be suitable to an IPV Specialist from a line background that is interested to move into a projects environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Valuation reviews of selected elements of valuation framework including contributions into design of new valuations methodologies and process
  • Review of new structured and/or complex trades from valuations control perspective including analysis of the transaction structure, modelling, accounting, market data, Profit and Loss (PnL) recognition analysis, reserves/valuations adjustments
  • Analysis of rates level 3 trade population include periodic reviews of levelling methodology and oversight of Rates International Financial Reporting Standards 13 (IFRS13) valuations disclosures
  • Independent price verification/reserving

You will have:

  • Strong understanding of the valuation (cross-products)
  • Solid experience in project management
  • Good analytical and modelling skills to support a valuation judgement
  • Motivation to change and improve existing processes
  • Good knowledge of new regulations
  • Confidence to constructively engage traders on valuation control results and methods
  • Good knowledge of in-house pricing systems and Excel
  • A strong sense of personal ownership and the ability to resolve issues independently

  • Educated to degree level or have equivalent work experience
  • A team player, with a positive and flexible attitude and strong attention to detail
  • Able to liaise and communicate clearly within Finance and with the business
  • Interested in increasing product knowledge
