The Dyrt is an innovative search and discovery platform for camping and (soon to be) outdoor adventures.

This Portland based start-up won a coveted spot in the Telluride Venture Accelerator (http://www.tellurideva.com/) and is re-imagining how people discover campgrounds and outdoor adventures. The beta product is live at www.thedyrt.com. This beta is leveraging gamification (sponsored by Marmot) to incentivize users to submit campground photos and videos. This Fall, the Dyrt will be building upon the beta, and launching unique technology for finding adventure trips. We are currently forming our core team who will implement the full vision of The Dyrt from the ground up. We want a great coworkers in addition to a great coders/designers – humor, passion and the desire to innovate matter to us.

Looking for a generalist with a strong Ruby background. This is a work from anywhere position. Would accept an 8-month contract if that is preferred.

This developer will wear a project manager hat and piece out the job, develop the front-end and the back-end as needed and subsequently maintain everything. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in at least the following areas:
  • Experience We Gotta Have:
  • Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and well tested Ruby code
  • Data Modeling
  • Strong relational database skills
  • RESTful API development
  • Building backend admin systems
  • Experience maintaining production
  • Understanding what the customer needs.

    What Would Be Cool:

  • Minimum 5 years development experience
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with PostgreSQL
  • Can show off completed web apps
  • Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 (bonus: experience with Ember.js)
