Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Wolverhampton
Contract: 6 months
Fantastic contract opportunity for an experience Manufacturing Engineer with a solid background in Program Okuma and Fadal CNC turning and milling centres.

The positions are permanently based in the Gear Centre of Excellence in Wolverhampton. The Project is to be completed over a six - nine month period and the roles will be challenging with key milestones to be met.

The successful candidate will:
Be an integral part of the Irkut Gear Manufacturing Project Team, providing technical machining expertise to develop and ensure the smooth manufacture of initial production requirements.
Support and assist all the implementation of gear manufacturing activities within the project scope.

Role Principal Responsibilities:
Be a recognised expert resource for resolving technical issues.
Assist in creating a robust manufacturing process.
Ensure the swift and timely completion of first article and production parts.
Provide technical support for a Quality Assurance lead to resolve and prevent machining or processing quality concerns.
Establish and monitor machine routings.
Identify opportunities for improvement, waste elimination and cost reduction.
Develop working practices that are appropriate to a Lean manufacturing environment including Lean events, Risk Assessments and PDPR's
Establish and monitor machine routings.

MUST HAVE
Program Okuma and Fadal CNC turning and milling centres.
Have a excellent knowledge of tooling geometries and machine capabilities for producing small to medium components from 300M & S82 materials.
Have a basic understanding of Heat treatment and special processing of 300M & S82 material.

Essential Requirements:
Qualified, Mechanical Engineering background - Must be able to read engineering drawings
Experience in Aerospace
Machining Background
Knowledge of tooling and fixture design and procural
Experience writing operator instructions

Desirable Requirements:
Gear machining knowledge
Some knowledge of measurement (Metrology)

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8AM TILL 4.45PM, Friday 8AM TILL 12PM
