WTG Package Manager

Quanta are now looking for a WTG Package Manager for an offshore wind development project.
The project is currently in the Concept Design phase, with FID expected during 2017 and first power planned in 2020.
The team is increasing in size to meet the requirements of the project and is looking for outstanding and experienced individuals.
The WTG Package Manager will be responsible for finalising Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages, negotiation of the contracts and will be responsible for the delivery and execution of the contracts from handover to wind farm start of operations.
The primary task is to be wind turbine package, managing the wind turbine team in the execution phase, with the responsibility of the wind turbine supply and installation in close co-operation with the other Package Managers and to handle the interfaces.
When the contracts are signed and the project has to be executed the WTG Package Manager will be responsible of making QA follow up on all deliveries from the foundation and up, including interfaces.

Your role:

  • Responsible for time schedule, budget control and interdisciplinary coordination of the WTG project team
  • Contribute to the identification and management of technical risks, issues and impacts of the project
  • Provide WTG input into the rest of project packages during design phase and define the working interfaces with them
  • Support value management and project optimisation process up to concept selection
  • To secure that the tender material for the WTG packages part are ready according to the governance documents
  • Undertake technical bid reviews and tender evaluations.
  • Responsible and overall coordinate the contract negotiation phase for the WTG/SCADA part of the contract including options and interfaces
  • Responsible for negotiation the warranty and the WTG part of the O&M contract
  • Responsible for setting up/negotiating the end of warranty strategy
  • To be responsible for the management, delivery and supervision of the WTG and the SCADA package throughout the project including transportation, installation, commissioning and testing
  • To identify and describe interfaces to the WTG
  • To follow/improve the standard procedures for the WTG part
  • To follow/make quality inspection procedures on the WTG part
  • To ensure quality inspection on WTG manufactures and their sub suppliers
  • To ensure WTG installation cost wise is made in the most beneficial way
  • To be responsible for the final inspection (commissioning) when taking over the turbines on site
  • To develop and follow high HSE requirements in regards to the manufacturing, transportation, installation and maintenance of the WTG with the project HSE responsible
  • Acting as first point of contact in regards to all contractors, both onshore and offshore on the WTG delivery
  • Support the Contract manager in the preparation of variation orders and claims.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly reporting

The candidate should be able to motivate team members and promote positive working relationships and interactions within the WTG package and with interfacing teams in the project and owner organisations. The candidate should seek and encourage cross project collaboration with both shareholders to maximise utilisation of lessons learnt and potential innovation opportunities.
It is expected that the candidate have experience as package manager for a similar offshore wind turbine project through all phases in the project.
Your profile:

  • Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering or similar
  • Significant experience in the offshore wind industry
  • Extensive technical and practical knowledge of wind turbine technology
  • Project management, planning, budgeting and contractual experience on wind industry multidisciplinary projects, preferably in offshore wind
  • Extensive experience on wind farm construction and commissioning phase, preferably in offshore environment
  • Knowledge of QHSE legislation associated with construction projects in UK
  • Experience and knowledge to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software
  • Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas
