Role: providing in-depth reactive troubleshooting expertise in Routing Protocols and LAN switching technologies to SP customers with the following responsibilities:

  • Provide Network Problem Resolution, Root-Cause Analysis, and primary technical support of critical network cases focusing primarily on high impact cases.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to Routing (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), Multicast, QoS, etc on CRS M/C, ASR9K, 7600 platforms, and LAN Switching specific to catalyst 4500 platforms.
  • Collaborates with Engineering on complex product and software issues, driving resolution of software defects.
  • Interfaces with all levels of CSEs, NCEs, SEs, Business Unit and internal engineering departments, and escalation resources.
  • Provides systems/product training to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Provides guidance, mentoring & leadership to new hires and less experienced engineers.
  • Acts as a focal point for large account network problem resolution.
  • Connects with customers and partners across functions and boundaries to achieve significant results.
  • Solves extremely complex problems where analysis requires in-depth evaluation of factors with imaginative and innovative troubleshooting and experimentation as well as evaluation of intangible variables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Contribute as a key participant on the team and cross-functional teams to resolve major customer issues.
  • Being on site 5 days per week, will often function as the face to our SP customer operations staff.

Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience troubleshooting Routing/Switching issues across Cisco platforms running IOS, IOS-XR and IOS-XE.
  • At least 2 years of experience configuring and troubleshooting MPLS L3VPN technology across Cisco platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Multicast and QOS required.
  • Must be proficient in BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
  • Minimum 8 years of overall networking experience, including configuring, analysing & troubleshooting complex networks
  • Strong Layer 3 and 2 knowledge as this position will primarily focus on supporting Cisco's Routing & Switching platforms.
  • Knowledge of system architecture on CRS M/C, ASR9K, 7600, 4500, and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex routing, switching and forwarding issues.
  • -Typically requires BS in CS or EE or equivalent

Desired Skills:

  • Strong documentation skills to be utilized for case management, knowledge capture, defect management and trainings.
  • Ability to drive recreates remotely
  • Proven crisis management skills, and the ability to excel under pressure.
  • CCIE preferred.
