FPGA Design Engineer - West Midlands

Amoria Bond are currently searching for a FPGA Design Engineer for a 12months contract based in the West Midlands.
Our client is a major international engineering company who design, manufacture and supply complex engineering solutions to a variety of industries including the aerospace, defence and subsea industries. They are currently working on several key projects which are scheduled to last for several years and they are looking for talented and experienced FPGA Design Engineers to join their team.
Key skills required:
- Extensive experience with FPGA Design (Microsemi preferable)
- Coding in VHDL
- Experience of working with FPGA Design within a safety critical or highly regulated environment such as aerospace, defence, telecommunications, nuclear, automotive or similar.
- Experience of working with structured design processes.
- Following on from producing designs you will then be responsible for the verification of the design to ensure the FPGA is suitable.
- Experience of working with digital simulators (such as Modelsim, Cadent or Xilinx) would be beneficial.
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink
- DSP (digital signal processor) experience beneficial (but not essential)
- Formal training with VHDL from companies such as Doulos or Esperan would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience of ASIC design would be a real plus but not essential.
- Experience with Scripting (Perl & TLC)
Day to day activities
You will be designing modules for FPGAs. Approximately 90% of the time will be spent working on this activity. You will then be using VHDL for the coding and then working on the verification of the FPGA. Your previous experience may not necessarily be with Matlab Simulink but the client is willing to offer inhouse training (and possibly external training) for enthusiastic and experienced FPGA Design Engineers.
