Senior Mechanical Engineer (Boiler Plant)

6 months initially with the view to extend.

£350 per day

What we are looking for

  • Ensuring mechanical integrity and technical performance of Boiler plant..
  • Plant area responsibility for designated areas.
  • Embody a safety first philosophy and drive safety performance as the number one priority.
  • Continue to develop and drive engineering improvements including projects to maximize income streams and minimize costs.
  • Develop processes to ensure long term mechanical plant maintenance strategy is deployed, reviewed and optimized on a continual basis.
  • Understand and analyze performance information to determine short term maintenance defect rectification approach and develop predictive maintenance tools based on real plant data and measurements.
  • Drive team and contractor performance to deliver the necessary outputs to required standards.
  • Manage significant works during outage periods to defined and challenging timescales, within budget to quality.
  • Rigorous adherence to budget control and driving value.
  • Develop innovative solutions to established engineering approaches.

Who we are seeking

Essential

  • A mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience (appropriate engineering discipline or business, however, a qualification to HNC with extensive operational experience is a minimum requirement).
  • Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the management of the plant.
  • An in depth understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and standards and qualified to NEBOSH Managing Safely standard or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders. This includes coaching skills to recognize where individuals or groups have skill shortages and the ability to help them achieve continuous improvement to deliver the best level of performance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage performance and motivate both individuals and a team.

Desirable

  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of Power Station Boilers.
  • The confidence to challenge established practices and suggest solutions to problems.
