Description

Quality Engineer/Leeds/6 months Contract/23 to 28 GBP (Per Hour)

Position Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive and robust quality plans for products under manufacture, to ensure conformance to specification through manufacturing operations.

Create CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine) programs for the Mitutoyo MCOSMOS software platform to assess complex product geometries, using CAD model, and 2D drawing inputs.

Conduct CMM program verification - accuracy assessments, Gauge R&R studies.

Generally support the operation of the site CMM base, and other metrology equipment. Support the advancement of site metrology to meet future business needs.

Provide general Quality support to manufacturing operations, calibration and goods receiving.

Ensure compliance with all Documented Quality system, FDA QSR's and ISO 13485. To operate within the company's standard operating procedures where applicable, and review, maintain and create appropriate procedures for sphere of activity.

Maintain a good level of housekeeping in designated areas, and observe all Health and Safety at work requirements.

Experience

Experience in mechanical engineering, experience in medical devices, automotive or aerospace.

CMM operating and programming experience with Mitutoyo software. Capable with complex geometric requirements and 3D inspection utilizing model based techniques.

Understands and can utilize first principle' measurement techniques.

Gauge design and a good understanding of geometric tolerancing would be a distinct advantage.

Must have spent time in a manufacturing environment, with a proven ability to read engineering drawings and create engineering specifications and procedures.

Ideally qualified to HNC level or above in an engineering discipline.

Highly PC literate and familiar with MS Office applications. Can create technical reports.

Should have a good appreciation of Quality Assurance principles and objectives.

A commitment to excellence, puts the customer first - holds a strong quality mindset.

Excellent organisational skills, with ability to work on own initiative. An ability to communicate with colleagues in Operations, Management and Production Engineering.

Ability to deal with flexible workload, self-motivated and self-disciplined and a team player.

Brings a can do attitude' and proactively seeks to solve problems - able to make decisions.
