Description

A Mechanical Engineering Production Technician who is SC cleared, or is able to undergo SC clearance, is required on a 7 month contract (with an option to extend through to November 2019) by our high profile client based in Hertfordshire. This role is paying hourly market rates.

This role is part of a team that undertakes projects and services and have an Embedded manufacturing services capability which requires specialist vocational engineering skills.

Essential Experience:

*Time-served industrial experience (minimum 5 years) with skills acquired in manufacturing industry.
*Time-served apprenticeship or structured training, such as BTech, City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (minimum 2- 4 years)
*Understanding and adherence to safe working practices, under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974. (European Framework Directive on Safety and Health at Work (Directive 89/391 EEC)
*Operate and adhere to good manufacturing and industrial practice
*Mechanical engineering concept generation, ideas and problem solving
*Manual milling and turning experience
*CNC Lathe and CNC milling machine experience
*Mechanical fitting and assembly experience
*Precision engineering experience
*The ability to undertake R&D to source suppliers, stockists and bought-out parts.
*Working knowledge of a wide range of conventional workshop/machine shop equipment
*Working knowledge of conventional engineering hand tools
*Sheetmetal work, bending and forming
*Toolmaking, jigs, fixtures and engineering prototype experience
*Carpentry and woodworking knowledge
*Welding, fabrication and bonding knowledge
*Painting, plating and finishing techniques
*Knowledge and experience selecting engineering materials including metals, plastics and timber
*Broad knowledge of industrial production and manufacturing methods
*Experience outsourcing to suppliers, including quotations, liaison, customer visits, quality checks and building rapport
*The ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings
*The ability to work quickly and collaborative with other technicians, to solve mechanical problems and produce engineering prototypes
*The ability to work closely with CAD designers to calculate and document engineering solutions
*Proactive, able to work on own initiative, dynamic and a fast learner, with evidence of continual improvement
*The ability to advise non-engineers, and provide mechanical engineering solutions, whilst communicating in layman's terms

The following are all highly desirable:

*HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering/Production Engineering or equivalent.
*Applied CADCAM working knowledge
*Laser engraving knowledge
*Quality control and precision measurement knowledge
*Mechanical engineering calibration knowledge
