FTTH Design EngineerOur client, a global leading telecommunication company are recruiting for a FTTH Design Engineer to join their business in the United Kingdom.
Position Title: FTTH Design Engineer

Responsibilities:
- It is the Design Engineer’s responsibility to make the High level design and make sure that comply the guideline. It may has but not limited as below:
-- a. Civil/fiber drawings(identify all surface type on google earth street view)
-- b. Produce a detailed BoM
- It is the Design Engineer’s responsibility to take on site survey to verify premises data and site status as per the guideline, It may has but not limited as below:
-- c. Proofing of premise data
-- d. Identify the Businesses and business types
-- e. identify all surface type on site
-- f. any street furniture, trees or hazards that prevent the use of the proposed construction method need to be highlighted on the drawings
-- g. A detailed audit of any existing network to be used in the build
- It is the Design Engineer’s responsibility to make the Low level design base on High level design and survey result, including all related documents as per the guideline. It may has but not limited as below:
-- a. Civils/fiber drawings
-- b. SLDs
-- c. Cab Location views
-- d. Fiber/Splitter Allocation Sheet
-- e. Utilities drawings for the build area
-- f. Hazard Identification in line with CDM requirements
-- g. Job Information Sheet
-- h. Stores Summary
-- i. Schedule of works
- It is the Design Engineer’s responsibility to instruct and manage the design contractor to deliver the survey and design against the agreed plan. Include but not limited , daily/weekly report, quality check and acceptance, etc.
- Ensure that all plans are available to enable progress of the project
- Ensure designs are more accurate against the actual site
- Ensure the Contract Partners are working to the agreed plan
- Providing the right decisions to overcome project obstacles, deviations to ensure progress is achieved
- On site Survey as per the guideline
- FTTH/ODN network Planning and design as per guideline, including design pack documents preparation
- Monitor, record and report against contract partner(s) to ensure survey and design delivery against an agree plan
- Provide the solution for special delivery scenario
- In charge of the dedicated area design management ,include plan , progress , issue resolve, etc.
Qualifications:
- HND or Degree in Optical/Electrical/ Electronics/ Civil Engineering
- 3 - 5 Years, Outside Plant (OSP) Telecoms & Civil & Cable Works
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software (3+ years ideally) – CAD test will be done to establish skillset
- Telecoms experience, ideally fibre (FTTP/FTTC/FTTX etc) and/or civils experience (electrical experience would also be acceptable if underground)
- Ability to use Microsoft Office package, namely Excel
- Use of GIS/mapping software would be advantageous
- Someone who can work under pressure and to extremely tight deadlines
- Someone who has surveying experience / on site experience
- Someone who can work on their own as well as part of the team
- Someone who is proactive, not reactive
