Description

A Mechanical Design Engineer, is sought by Ashwoods Electric Motors in Chudleigh, Devon. The role involves creating new products, developing tooling and assembly machines. You will be working in partnership with some of the biggest engineering forms worldwide. This GBP is for 2 years initially.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are Ashwoods Electric Motors - an innovative and rapidly-growing cleantech engineering firm based in the South West of England - and we make electric motors that are smaller, lighter, more efficient and cheaper than comparable incumbent designs. Our products are attracting global interest and we are now rapidly expanding to meet the requirements of our ever- growing customer base. We are moving very soon to our new Devon facility at Chudleigh, with the support of a £1.2M grant from the UK Government.

We have the opportunity for three mechanical design engineers to join us in creating new products to satisfy our customers' requirements and developing tooling and assembly machines to aid production. Much of our development work is done in partnership with other engineering firms and applicants will be excited about working with some of the biggest names in the automotive and engineering world as well as enthusiastic about our plans to significantly increase our production volumes. Adept at engineering design and highly skilled in the use of design tools, they will have a pragmatic mindset and a desire to build value into their work at all stages from initial design through to manufacture.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Desired qualifications and skills

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of
  • 3-D CAD experience, with SolidWorks the preferred package
  • Automotive or off-highway drives
  • Electric motors and/or hybrid drives
  • Production engineering, DFMEA and/or lean manufacturing beneficial
