Description

Role: Fabricator

Location: Devonport, Plymouth

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £14 - £21 p/hourly (inside IR 35)

Start: ASAP

What do I need to do the role?

You'll have the ability to read engineering drawings and interpret work instructions, be competent in the use of hand held oxy-fuel burning tools and general workshop machinery and tools specific to fabricating (grinders, disc cutters, guillotines and band saws)

Ideally will have worked in the marine industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience will be considered.

You'll need to hold qualifications in at least one of the following:

  • Indentured Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a sheet metal, structural steel or fabrication related discipline
  • Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role

About the role

Here at Devonport Royal Dockyard we're looking for Fabricators to join the team that is at the forefront of supporting the Royal Navy.

You'll play an integral role in ensuring the serviceability of warships and systems through detailed maintenance and refit periods by working within multi-trade teams. You'll ordinate structural alterations and repairs on board ships and submarines. Working to engineering drawings and technical specifications, you'll manufacture structural modules, fabricate and alter structures in a variety of metals and thickness and you'll carry out surveys and pre-refit examinations of bulkheads and marine structural systems.
