Optical Design Engineer - Senior (FTTH)Our client, a global leading telecommunication company, is recruiting for an Optical Design Engineer (FTTH) to join their office in Ireland.
Position Title: Optical Design Engineer - Senior (FTTH)

Responsibilities:
- Liaise with Design Manager and internal stakeholders to produce the optical design.
- Identify any potential blocking issues, and resolve or escalate accordingly.
- Perform daily meetings with Survey Teams at Site project office, thus ensuring that all necessary feedback is transferred to Design team, and vice versa.
- Read & Understand GIS drawings.
- Produce AutoCad based optical designs.
- Transfer survey data onto excel format.
- Produce Bill of Materials, tabulate & track project parts & stock required to complete rollout (strong understanding of optical & build fixtures & fittings helpful).
- Assist in the production of Bill of Quantities.
- Read/Understand Electricity network maps & translate that information into the optical design.
Qualifications:
- Significant operational experience within the Utilities and specifically the Telecoms contracting sector – especially in Ireland.
- Strong understanding of Fibre Optics – standards, types.
- Strong understanding of FTTB / FTTH build processes.
- Strong understanding of different types of optical networks infrastructures.
- Ability to identify & implement creative solutions.
- Adept at understanding & implementing new concepts
- Excellent communication skills - especially important to have the confidence to make technical design presentations to internal teams and/or customer(s).
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills - good MS Excel proficiency.
- Minimum 8 yrs. working in Fixed Telecom provider – optical networks.
- Knowledge of DWDM / GPON Technology an advantage
