Contract technical writer author in hardware for medical imaging. Framemaker. User guides, installation guides, service guides.
The Job
Our client, a global company in medical imaging, is looking for a contract English technical author in its Hardware group in the Paris region. The first contract will be for six months, and then renewable in rolling contracts afterwards.
As a member of the Technical Documentation team, your tasks will include:
- Communicating with the hardware and software team in Paris to analyse needs and plan documentation
- Identifying end-user needs for products to be documented
- Developing and writing user guides in FrameMaker 9
- Updating installation and service guides in FrameMaker 9
Your audience will be technical product users and similar technically qualified readers. All material must be written with a view to localisation.
Your Experience
- You must be an EU citizen or hold a regular work permit for France.
- You must live in Paris during this contract - no teleworking will be permitted by the client.
- We require at least five years experience in producing hardware documentation.
In addition, we are looking for someone who:
- Speaks both English and French
- Has outstanding communication and writing skills in English
- Is comfortable working with and writing about mechanics and electronics with the Hardware Team
- Can work as a member of a global and international team
- Is independent and autonomous
- Can work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and keep to tight deadlines
- Is able to take strong initiative
- Is highly organised
- Has strong interpersonal and planning skills
- Is able to work both in a team and independently
- Can learn new tools and skills as required
Also desired
Experience in the imaging industry would be a definite plus.
