Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Director, Media & Stakeholder Relationship to work within Central Government. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to work with a prestigious contracting body for the Central Government. This position will be based in London initially for 5 months at £288 per day LTD Company.

You will have significant leadership experience as a senior communication professional.
Your career may have started in a particular function but your experience will have led you to lead and understand other professional areas. This will include, but not necessarily be limited to, public affairs, stakeholder relations and media relations. You will understand how stakeholder groups interact with each other and you will have worked over time to engage media and stakeholders with your organisations policy agenda. You will be able to demonstrate how you have increased your organisations engagement and influence in a measurable way.
You are likely to have considerable experience operating in a policy based environment or similarly complex environment, hence:
You will be able to shape a powerful story out of your analysis of multiple external factors and internal policy. You will tell that story with flair and creativity.
You will be comfortable with understanding financial data.
You will have authority and influence with your peers and the most senior figures at the Arts Council. Your opinion will be valued by them, even when you are having to voice challenging truths. You will be able to manage such conflicts with grace and diplomacy.
You will have highly developed leadership skills with proven experience of leading, and motivating teams to deliver agreed objectives. You will be able to demonstrate people respect you and enjoy working for you.
You will have strong business planning skills, senior level project and campaign management experience along with sound budget management skills. Your instinct will be curious and entrepreneurial and you will have the confidence to challenge unnecessary process and the judgement to know when things don't need fixing.

Project leadership
As well as leading communication functions, you will lead priority communication projects that sit within the national communication strategy.
You will motivate several different project teams of communication professionals working across all channels. This activity will support priorities within the Arts Councils strategy - such as our work with Children and Young People.
You will also be accountable for the PA teams day to day work such as providing briefings or monitoring and evaluation of political developments in order to feed intelligence back into the organisation
