An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to work within Central Government. This position will be based in Bristol initially for 4 months at £500 per day LTD Company.

Job description

The mps project engineer will have a strong engineering background, with extensive experience of equipment acquisition and in-service support to military front-line operations. The senior project engineer will develop technical solutions that meet customer capability needs, applying their knowledge and experience of integrated logistic support to ensure that support requirements are satisfied in an efficient, effective and safe manner within the mscip arrangements. The project engineer will hold a minimum HNC/hnd in a relevant engineering subject, have experience of applying project management tools across the full project life cycle, and be able to both develop technical requirements and assess industry proposals. In addition, the project engineer will have advanced level competence in system safety, project controls and the management of quality. Experience of managing systems of systems engineering projects would also be beneficial.

Key tasks and deliverables

: Planning, scheduling and management of mps activity and lines of development associated with the mscip programme.

: Management of mps risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities.

: Maritime platform systems (mps) comprises 6 teams and is an integral part of the director ships support business area.

: Mps is responsible for managing master equipments, suppliers and stock in support of surface ships and submarines for the royal navy, royal fleet auxilliary and other areas of mod.

: Discuss and agree system design solutions with Suppliers and ensure that the inherent technical risks associated with them are understood and managed.

: Ensure that performance, time, cost, risk and safety factors are taken into consideration when making technical decisions.

: Provide support or leadership in the development of the technical solution to meet the customer capability needs.

: Ensure that the solution is successfully integrated into the current enterprise whilst managing and minimising negative impacts.
