Capital Specialist - Solvency II - Pillar III

Overall Job Purpose:

Assist the Company in delivery of remaining Solvency II requirements, particularly around the actuarial Pillar 3 requirements, QRTs and documentation. Provide wider support to actuarial and finance activities across the programme across Pillars 1 and 2 as required.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with finance and actuarial on the completion of the Pillar 3 QRT templates and drive the completion of the templates where the content is specifically actuarial.
  • Design and document a robust process, with effective controls, to operationalise and embed the regular production of these within the actuarial team.
  • Liaise with the Finance and Risk teams on completion of Pillar 3 disclosures (SFCR and RSR), and support the drafting of actuarial content.
  • Support the wider Solvency II programme as required. This may include review and further developments around Pillar 1 or Pillar 2 at the Solo or Group level on an ad hoc basis. Acting with integrity and due skill, care and diligence at all times. Ensuring that customers are treated fairly at all times.
  • Ensuring that communications via any medium meet the principle of 'clear, fair and not misleading'. Undertaking relevant internally arranged training on systems, processes and regulatory requirements relevant to your role.
  • Identifying and escalating (through your line manager) risks that impact the business, customers or other third parties reporting (through your line manager) any issues and/or system/process failures that may impact on service to customers.

Skills required:

  • Recently or nearly qualified actuary or accountant. Relevant experience in an insurance company or consultancy with experience in Solvency II and capital management preferred though candidates from other disciplines will be considered.
  • Proven strong analytical, communication and influencing skills.
  • A high level of general market awareness/industry knowledge. Enthusiastic, curious, self motivated and able to work either autonomously or within teams.
  • Able to plan and organise own workload and manage several tasks simultaneously within tight timescales.
