IntroductionOur client is a producer of specialist metals including ferrotitanium, high purity chromium plus many other alloys in addition to the laboratory services. They are a global company with a global customer base and have a reputation for solid reliability, which is now being augmented as a service and innovative business.
A novel concept for the manufacture of an oxide from an ore has been proposed. The project aims to develop a full industrial scale plant using novel process routes. The novel process involves a number of stages including high temperature furnacing, as well as water and acid chemical treatments.
The first phase is currently active and is on a Laboratory scale. It aims to demonstrate that the principles of the proposal hold true, and that the final products of the process meet specified requirements.
An experienced Chemical Engineer is now required to design (and develop a capital expenditure proposal for) a pilot plant and lead the scale up of oxide processing in phase 2 of the project.
Start date: Early 2016
Duration: Likely initial duration in the region of 3-6 months.
Candidate profile:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a minerals processing or process engineering environment.
- Experience of; heat treatment, dewatering, and acid treatment and storage and waste management.
- Experience setting up a plant or pilot plant.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong Project Management skills.
- Excellent financial skills and experience in the preparation of Capex proposals.
- Good team worker.
- Self starter and leader to drive the project forward.
