Functional Safety Intervention Project Manager

My Client, A leading Oil and Gas client based in Bristol is urgently seeking an experienced Functional Specialist to join their team for a minimum of 3-6 months with potential for extension. This is a full time role with occasional travel included.

The Functional Safety (FS) Intervention Project Manager is a key role within the Subsea Services Well Access business, responsible for:

  • Leading a team of engineers, planners and documentation experts to deliver Subsea Service IWOCs and/or CWOR functional safety programmes to our customers, both external and internal.
  • Current work covers creation of a new end-to-end functional safety system design; manufacture of a topside cabinet to house the safety PLCs; all software for the solution and overseeing proof of concept testing of this system.
  • Manage scope through control and change order management for both cost expenditure and schedule to agreed contract.
  • Ensure on-time and on-budget execution of projects for delivery of programmes, including maintenance of finance tracking spreadsheets.
  • Maintain and control Risk Management of the project.
  • Maintenance of Programme Management Interface tracking tool.
  • Presenting programme progress to senior management both monthly and at 'tollgate reviews'.
  • Ensuring the FS, and Quality, culture and processes are firmly established and used. This includes creation/update of FS documentation and adding these documents to the Well Access QMS.
  • Running regular (tri-weekly) engineering progress calls involving all engineering parties.
  • Running regular reviews with engineering suppliers, to ensure Hardware and Software changes are made to suit the programme requirements.
  • Working with external second- and third-party suppliers to ensure the delivered project meets their requirements (against EC 61511 standard). This includes regular (fortnightly) review calls with each.

Experience required:

  • Experienced Project Manager experienced in Functional Safety deliveries to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. Preference for PMI certified. Preference for FS Engineer accreditation.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to deliver within a Matrix organisation.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrates high standards of ethics and values following company compliance and integrity programs.
  • Demonstrates a readiness to make decisions, including engineering decisions in relation to achieve client objectives. Able to champion his/her decisions when necessary.
  • Willing to take the initiative and originate action, but knows when to either delegate up or down.
  • Demonstrates good team working abilities and should be able to arrange and manage events which involve various teams, including staff reporting directly. Provide leadership and manage interfaces as required to deliver objectives.
