Location: Swindon (Moving to Fabrication Yard In Norway)
Duration: TBC
Rate: £ per day

A leading renewables energy operator, specialising within the Offshore Wind sector, are currently looking to recruit an experienced Fabrication Manager based at headquarters in Swindon and then moving to a European Fabrication Yard base (Norway)

The Fabrication Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of inspectors and delivery of the Offshore Foundations in accordance with the employers requirements. You will have extensive experience of Offshore Foundations design and fabrication and preferentially experience working in a client role.

Principal Accountabilities:

The role will involve the management of the Foundations fabrication and will report to the Project Manager, Offshore Foundations.

You will have day to day accountability for management of a wide range of activities including:
  • Health Safety & Environment - Ensuring that the foundations are fabricated in a safe and environmentally sound manner and in accordance with relevant legislation and best industry practice.
  • Site Management - Day to day coordination of the employer's inspectors and engineers across multiple fabrication facilities and ensuring adequate site services and welfare provisions are in place. First point of call for rectification of fabrication issues and recommending appropriate course of action.
  • Quality Management - Ensure the delivery of the foundations in accordance with the employers specification and relevant regulations, standards and codes. Management of the on-site non-conformance reporting process.
  • Progress - Monitoring and expediting of the fabrication process in support of the project master schedule.
  • Change control - Recognition and control of change in order to mitigate the impacts on the project objectives
  • Team leadership - Management, motivation and leadership of a small team of fabrication inspectors
  • Budgetary control - Forecasting and control of expenditure within delegated level of authority and budget allocation
  • Reporting - Clear, concise and reliable reporting of progress and QHSE performance of the contract to the project management team.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in a similar role with an good level of competency and self-sufficiency in site management.
  • Significant and demonstrable leadership skills in managing and delivering similar packages within the offshore or marine environment
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy steel fabrication
  • Demonstrable competency in leading and/or working within multi-cultural teams.
  • A sound understanding of working with contracts and the interpretation thereof
  • High level of communication skills and IT competence
  • High regard and good knowledge of health, safety and environmental management
  • Highly motivated individual with a pro-active attitude ensuring adequate interfaces, controls and communication are established and maintained in all aspects of project management.
