Job Title: Global Network Security Lead - Firewalls, Security

Department: IT Infrastructure

Reporting to: Head of Global Communications IT

Location: City of London

Pay Rate: £500 to £550 p/d

Our client, an asset management company, are currently recruiting for a Global Network Security Lead in their IT infrastructure department.

Group IT Infrastructure is responsible for running all aspects of Infrastructure for our client globally. They have representative support personnel in most global offices, but the bulk of architecture & engineering happens in London, Singapore & New York.

You should have good design skills and knowledge of major security manufacturers - Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA

The Role

The Global Network is the back-bone for the company to function. They have a global network spanning 27 countries with 34 offices and numerous datacenters and utilize many different types of networks including DWDM, MPLS, various point to point technologies and VPN. The LAN has undergone various upgrades in the past years, but now with the advent of several new datacenters and major projects, we're currently architecting what the future looks like.

This role needs to define the global networks security strategy and be the technical authority for this vertical. We have equipment all over the world, and travel to those regions will be required from time to time. The role will form part of the wider Global Infrastructure management team and will be expected to present strategies to the wider audience.

Key duties

  • Globally be the lead for all network security architecture & engineering
  • Build a global network security strategy and have the ability to execute
  • Work closely with the Head of Global Communications on strategy & execution
  • Work closely with the Head of Unified Communications to ensure the security is fully configured to support Real Time protocols for loss-sensitive applications.
  • Work closely with the Global Networks Lead to ensure all designs & deployments are globally saleable and supportable
  • Have input to the global infrastructure budget, and be able to plan future activities.
  • Manage the global network vendors & ensure a smooth transition to the new global network operations center.
  • Establish global standards for hardware & configurations
  • Maintain high-levels of uptime across the entire network estate
  • Build a secure next-generation network, capable of automated deployment & delivery.
  • Ensure all security encryption technologies are appropriately deployed
  • Understand key-management, DMZ's and public-facing systems.

General skills

  • Have a history of working in a mission-critical environment.
  • Background in financial services or similar regulated industry
  • Experienced in datacenter deployments & green field sites.
  • Experienced in converged datacenter design & converged fabric.
  • Understand the importance of metrics & statistics when measuring the network performance & capacity

Technical Skills

  • CCSE or equivalent qualification
  • CISSP or CISM qualified
  • In-depth knowledge of packet switching
  • In-depth knowledge of routing & network virtualization
  • Detailed knowledge of deep packet inspection
  • Detailed knowledge of virtual Firewalling technology and how to deploy
  • In-depth knowledge of IP routing & routing protocols.
  • Know in detail different WAN types, including MPLS & DWDM
  • Understand latency, and it's affect on applications.
