A Global Renewable Energy client, specialising within offshore/Onshore Wind Operations, is looking to recruit an experienced Site Support Electrical Engineer to work on 2 onshore UK wind farm projects

The first project will be based in Devon for 6 months, the second will be based in Yorkshire until early 2017

Job Description:
The Site Electrical Engineer (SEE) will be employed for the duration of the electrical installation and testing period of the Projects ensuring all sub-contractors on site adhere to the Operators H&S, Quality and contractual standards.
The SEE will be given authority on and off-site to oversee electrical installation and commissioning works to ensure quality, specification and most importantly health and safety at all times. The SEE will be RIUK's representative on site and the main duties are to ensure that the electrical and turbine contractors are adhering to the requirements of the signed contracts and that the general and technical specification for all contracts is being met for programme, quality and safety. The SEE will effectively be the Operators eyes and ears on the site and in close co-ordination with the Resident Engineer (RE) will report directly to the Client Project Manager (PM).
The SEE will provide support to the PM and will have day to day responsibility for monitoring the electrical activities on site on behalf of the PM. The SEE will submit a weekly written report to the PM (format to be agreed).
The SEE will be given authority on and off-site to oversee construction works to ensure quality, specification and most importantly health and safety at all times.
The SEE is provided with the delegated authority to stop the Works in the case of an H&S, Environmental and Quality issue where to delay would cause additional or prolonged risk or damage.

Under the control of PET, and where requested, the SEE reviews and comments on all electrical drawings and documents received from the Electrical, WTG and DNO Contractor and provides comments to PET copying in the PM.
The SEE reviews construction related documents from Electrical, WTG and DNO Contractors - including Method Statements and Risk Assessments and provides comments directly on Site to the Principal Contractor. This activity needs to be co-ordinated with the EST.

The SEE attends weekly meetings on Site (with all Contractors) and provides weekly reports of progress on Site and any issues to the Project Manager. The SEE attends all monthly Progress Meetings with the Contractors.
The SEE reviews Quality Control on Site and ensures the Contractors comply with inspection requirements as agreed in the Quality and Inspection Plans.
Job requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following skills;
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to; design, plan, co-ordinate and execute complex tasks.
  • Extensive experience on relevant matters: design, installation, operation, testing, inspection and troubleshooting electrical power equipment - preferably with experience of wind power plants.
  • An understanding of HV and LV wiring systems
  • Experience of both 33KV and 66KV grid connections
  • An understanding or SCADA control systems Technical knowledge of the Ireland and UK Grid code requirement
  • An individual with good communication skills who is comfortable in front of customers and suppliers.
  • An ability to develop effective working relationships with the various decision makers within the relevant utilities.
  • Strong IT skills - MS Excel, MS Word.
