My London based client are looking to recruit a senior finance officer on a contract basis.
As a Finance Officer you will assist in carrying out a range of accounting, budgetary and financial administration duties. You will have worked and be experienced in working within the public sector preferably a council.

Your main responsibilities will be:
Liaising with and advising budget holders particularly in relation to budgetary management and associated matters.
Advising budget holders in relation to accounting standards including assisting in the interpretation of new legislation and regulations.
Maintaining awareness of funding sources with a view to maximising the resources available to the company.
Assisting in organising the work of the team, advising and training team members as appropriate, including deputising for the Finance Manager in his/her absence.
Be comfortable in producing forecasts and discussing them.
Have knowledge of year end accounts and how to close them.

Key requirements:
To be suitable for the role you will be AAT qualified (or higher) and have substantial accounting and budgetary experience. You will have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to work accurately to deadlines. You will be a self-starter able to use initiative within delegated authority and to work with little supervision and direction. You will be able to establish and continue good working relationships and work effectively as part of a team and work effectively under pressure when required.
