Description

A Renewable Energy Operator is looking for a Onshore Substation M&E Site Supervisor to complete a 12 month contract starting March 2016. This role will be based at the onshore substation construction site which is a National Grid site.
The Onshore Substation Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Site Supervisor will report to the Site Manager, as well as liaise with Substation Package Manager and the technical engineering team. The primary function of the role is to supervise the contractor's M&E construction activities on site ensuring the safety, quality and accuracy of the structures being built. This role will have an electrical focus.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver client supervision of the Contractor's site team during the M&E erection phase of the works
  • Deputise for the Site Manager, when required
  • Liaison with the client HSE advisors and support team including CDMC/PD
  • Liaison with members of the substation Civil engineering and the commissioning team
  • Monitoring and logging of the Contractor's progress and performance on site
  • When required, produce non-conformance Reports and liaise with QA/QC Engineers
  • Provide clients inspection of the quality and accuracy of electrical and mechanical apparatus
    on site
  • Preparation of detailed reports to the Site Manager and Substation Package Manager, as required
  • Liaison with members of the onshore cable installation team
  • Contribute to Risk Review, HAZID and HAZOP studies through early design
  • Build working relationships with the National Grid Bolney Site team
  • Build and maintain a close working relationship with local stakeholders and if necessary, attend the bi monthly Local Liaison Committee Meetings; these are held outside normal working hours
Experience & qualifications:
  • Have a working knowledge of construction health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Demonstrate recent experience (minimum 10 years) of supervising on major and complex construction sites with recent substation experience
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of substation electrical equipment
  • Hold qualifications supporting a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering construction discipline
  • Be a recognised site supervisor holding SSSTS, CCNSG Safety Passport (Supervisor), NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or similar
  • Be a National Grid accredited Person and BESC trained
  • Be familiar with National Grid Technical Specifications and associated standards
