Voice Project Lead Engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the development process for all new projects within Voice Engineering.The projects would include all aspects of Voice Engineering that are VoIP (SIP and PacketCable) based.

Job Duties:

The primary responsibility for this job will be to lead projects through a development process for all new projects.

These new projects include all aspects of voice including with an emphasis of SIP and PacketCable (IMS) based voice network.

An exposure to Legacy voice systems including SS7, TDM is desired but not required. Understanding of how these various voice disciplines interact and work is a requirement with expertise on VoIP.

This position requires the candidate to have a solid technical grounding to allow the development of requirements with various internal and external customers on new project initiation.

The candidate should be able to communicate affectively with a varied group of technical people as the candidate leads, coordinates and manages complex projects to completion.

The ideal candidate would have carrier telephony, both TDM and VoIP based, experience and knowledge of how Legacy and VoIP telephony and services evolve into a next generation environment such as IMS.

Key participant in business requirement reviews and formulates logical statements of business requirements. Advise and consult Analysis, Design, Test and Deployment teams on solutions of the telephony voice services.

At higher levels, the candidate will conduct strategic network assessments based upon emerging network trends, technologies, and/or future service offerings and develop plans to address needs. May perform operational efficiency reviews and develop plans for improvements as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience - Must Haves

  • Must have a thorough understanding and design understanding of SIP based telephony signalling, including SIP & SDP Signaling, RTP
  • Must have hands on system design experience in integrating carrier grade VoIP Networks comprising of Gateways, SIP Application Servers, SBCs.
  • Nice to have a working knowledge or exposure to IMS and PacketCable.
  • Must have expert understanding of IP Networks, Routers, Firewalls, Switches, IP Addressing, DNS, Linux/Unix
  • Must have excellent communication, skills including both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to assess projects for planning purposes and identify tasks, interdepencies, level of effort and project costs.
  • Must be able to manage business requirements, analyze requirements to create use cases and functional requirements.
  • Provides detailed engineering support and consultation to field systems, design engineers, and implementation teams.
  • Serves as primary subject matter expert in the area of engineering specialty
  • Conduct engineering economic, alternative and feasibility evaluations
