Estates Manager, NHS

Estates Manager required to be based across Whitehaven and Carlise - The Estates Manager will be:

  • Directly responsible for monitoring the day to day management of all Operations, Projects contracted Engineering and Building tradesmen within base and remote related healthcare premises within geographical remit.
  • Directly responsible for the monitoring management, operation and maintenance of all life-critical Engineering services plant and equipment.
  • Directly responsible for the day to day management of all Medical Engineering Services across the organisation.
  • Ensure that allpremises are effectively Estates managed and all statutory and mandatory Estates and Health & Safety related issues are identified, prioritised and minimised within financial and physical constraints.
  • Manage the development and delivery of solutions to challenges and problems through creativity and change.
  • Manage, in co-operation with others, the lead and driving forward of the modernisation of clean working practices within the environment, during the course of construction, maintenance and breakdown of Building Services, thereby reducing the risk to Patients, Staff and the General Public.
  • Develop and deliver solutions to challenges and problems through creativity and change.

Essential Skills

Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

Postgraduate development to Masters level or equivalent

Membership of a relevant Professional Institution

Significant in-depth experience and professional specialist knowledge of working within an Acute healthcare environment.

Extensive management of hospital maintenance.

Managing a large multidisciplinary team in an acute hospital setting.

Setting up and making presentations.

Budget and performance management.

Turnaround experience with a record of achievement linked to cost improvement and income generation.

Continuing professional development with portfolio.

Highly specialist knowledge of full range of highly complex life critical equipment including piped medical gases, High/Low Voltage electrical systems, critical ventilation plant etc. gained through experience and professional/specialist equipment manufacturers courses.

Operation and maintenance of engineering, building services and Medical Engineering.

Mechanical, electrical and building drawings and manuals.

Computer literate.

Equality legislation and best practice.

Ability to diagnose and rectify faults on highly complex life critical engineering plant and equipment.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Able to persuade and listen effectively.

Leadership skills with experience of motivating teams driving service

improvement.

Good organisational skills.

Ability to use initiative appropriately.

Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.

Able to interpret instructions and write clear reports.

Ability to manage complex capital programmes and assess project priorities.

Ability to produce performance reports.

Good time management skills.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Effective judgment skills.
