A Systems Engineer with Hardware, Flight Simulator, Avionics and COTS experience is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Preston

Overview of the Systems Engineer contract role
An opportunity has arisen within Aircrew Training Simulation Systems to work as part of a team developing aircrew training devices (flight simulators) for innumerable programmes.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for the specification, development, integration and delivery of Flight Simulators. This includes the continued development of training devices already in service with our customers and the development of new devices to meet our customers emerging requirements.
This role is within the Systems Design and Integration Team working on the system level hardware and IT definition, integration and design capture.
Key responsibilities for the Systems Engineer
- Systems engineering experience with a hardware bias, preferably within Flight Simulator projects though not essential.
- System design of flight simulator hardware architecture comprising of COTS computing infrastructure interfacing to bespoke sub-systems such as the simulator cockpit and visual projection system.
- Support to the hardware to hardware and hardware to software integration including design, integration and capture of the computing infrastructure IT configuration.
- Support to production of Technical Publications for operation and maintenance of the flight simulator.
- Support to verification, certification, and safety management of training systems.
- Adhering to good systems engineering practice in accordance with the mandated engineering processes is essential for this role.
The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds.
