Description

Thames Water, the UK`s largest water and wastewater services provider, is searching for a Collections Manager to join their Credit and Collections team in Swindon, Wiltshire.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Credit and Collections Manager to join an exciting 18-24 month project where you will be responsible for all cash processing and collections operations, budget, and ensuring the cash collections, credit management and debt collections targets are achieved.

As an integral member of the team you will also;

- Lead and support continuous improvement in areas of responsibility and contribute to the wider continuous improvement programme
- Ensure business strategy/vision and goals are executed within the operational centres
- Have direct responsibility for ensuring the operational areas are suitably resourced to manage all elements of the operation including meeting key KPI/SLAS's in terms of customer service/experience
- To support all change initiatives within the credit and collections operations

We are looking for someone who has experience in a similar role as a Credit and Collections Manager or equivalent, within a targeted collection environment; with proven ability to achieve or exceed the targets set anwid able to work under pressure.

Day-to-day this role will require you;

- To provide leadership to the collections managers and teams
- To ensure all staff understand the Credit & Collection vision, mission and values and follow these principles
- To maintain departmental budgets and targets, as well as cascading budgets and targets to individual teams within the collection operation
- To develop and manage a collection team that is best in class for the water industry, ensuring their responsibilities are carried out effectively and targets are met, following good practices within the wider collections industry
- To liaise with other managers to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved, and bad and doubtful debt is minimised
- To analyse and forecast portfolio and operational performance to identify areas of improvement and implement plans to address any issues raised
- To be involved in internal credit quality forums as well as external credit events in conjunction with other managers, to contribute to future policies such as changes to customer or credit and collections policy following feedback from operational areas

If you have over 3 years` experience as a Credit and Collections Manager (or similar position) and experience of most of the following, then we would like to hear from you!

Skills required;

- Good business acumen, proven analytical abilities and excellent people management and leadership skills
- Proven ability to maintain budgets, as well as achieving targets within the budget criteria set
- In-depth knowledge of collection techniques and relevant legislation, including the various enforcement methods available
- Proven experience of creating an operating environment that encourages innovation, positive response to change and an ethos of making it happen' with a can do' culture
- Able to lead a team and develop the right culture of customer service
- Excellent communication skills and be able to deal with management at all levels, having the confidence to present and debate as necessary
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with extensive experience of influencing decisions in a positive way, creating a win-win outcome with internal and external customers at all levels and be an excellent problem solver
- Experience of implementing complex change programmes, particularly in areas such as centralisation programmes and new process design, as well as developing a team from the ground up
