Sopra Steria Recruitment is working in partnership with a major public sector client in the UK. We are currently recruiting a Category Manager to be based in London or Liverpool for an initial period of 3 months with possible extension.

Influence customers and category team with in depth market knowledge acting as a source of insight and advice to customers, working with them to define optimal commercial strategies that deliver long term value and efficiencies
Effectively engage with customers, building trust in order to drive compliance and influence behaviours and drive change in service and performance
Demonstrate added value by creating a deep understanding of customer requirements in area of responsibility
Management of customer relationships to deliver efficiencies through the Category frameworks/Commercial Contracts and specific initiatives identifying key stakeholders at departmental/organisational level, establishing communication plans including holding stakeholder forums for key areas of spend
Use commercial intelligence and insights to understand the supplier landscape and engage the market to inform the buying process
Ability to use lean efficiency skills, identifying business process change and reshaping customer End to End Procure to Pay processes
Model end to end supply chains identifying Total Cost of Ownership across multi tier suppliers Improve supplier performance and performance of the whole supply chain using for example supplier associations and lean value chain methods
Drive Supplier Relationship Management to improve performance across the whole supply chain including identification and delivery of savings initiatives and innovation opportunities
Lead Category Boards within Government to ensure a sub-category solution remains upper quartile
Liaise with stakeholders and customers at a variety of levels to present/promote the Office Supplies category products/procurement strategy via working groups, customer meetings, exhibitions and events
Build and own risk mitigation strategy
Experience of leading and delivering significant organisational change and complex projects/programmes in a strategic procurement environment
An experienced and motivational manager with demonstrable business acumen
Extensive category expertise and experience
Ability to lead, engage and manage people, creating a high performance culture in order to deliver against stretch targets both during and following a significant period of change.
Track record of innovating in order to translate business strategy into deliverable business solutions
Outstanding senior stakeholder engagement and influencing skills coupled with the ability to formulate and harness innovative ideas and initiatives
Senior customer and supplier relationship management experience within a commercial environment
Experience of leading the development, implementation and delivery of strategic high value contracts for the supply of goods and services
Extensive knowledge and experience of category managements and its processes, including category benchmarking, strategic marketing and category content
