Communications and Engagement Lead
12 month opportunity

The post holder will be a key senior member of the team who will implement the communications and engagement plan with stakeholders, staff and media, ensuring a consistent, coherent and coordinated approach at all times.

This post holder will demonstrate the full communications and marketing skill mix with excellent written and personal presentation, event delivery, expertise in public and staff engagement and project management skills.

Key duties include:

* To build and maintain strong relationships with staff, stakeholders and commissioners, representing the organisation at local network events as required, identifying and using effective channels for communication.
* Work closely with the Head of Communications to deliver the communications strategy, including internal communications, marketing, media relations and events, acting as brand champion.
* Work closely with colleagues across the partnership to find solutions for the service's communications needs, using creativity and expertise to deliver impactful results.
* Using strong written and editorial skills to play a key role in producing a range of communications materials from in-house vodcasts, to newsletters and press releases.
* Manage the existing website, while project managing the development of new and improved website, in addition to its corporate Facebook and twitter accounts.
* Provide and receive complex, and sometimes conflicting, information from and for a wide range of staff, stakeholders and the public where there is a substantial element of persuasion involved, and where there may be antagonism towards the issue presented.
* Identify and drive opportunities for innovation in creative and effective communications. Ensure these are introduced effectively and evaluated to ensure continual improvement.
* Proactively establish, build and maintain good working relationships with key journalists, assist in ensuring that broadcast media adhere to the Trust's media policy while working on site; and enhance the reputation of the Trust by identifying potential 'good news' stories for the proactive media relations programme.
* Handle day to day media enquiries in coordination with the communication team, developing media responses and staff briefing as required.
* Support the production of patient information (leaflets, posters, films etc) which adhere to good practice guidelines. This includes ensuring adherence to FTB branding guidelines, editing copy, advising on format, sourcing 'value for money' suppliers, quotes, editing, plain English check, proofing and seeing projects through production.
* Work closely with the communications team to develop the use of social media to promote the service and manage reputation.
* Identify, train and support staff and patients who may be suitable for media interviews - delivering and/or sourcing external training as required.
* Develop and use appropriate evaluation tools to demonstrate the effectiveness of and continuously improve the communications and engagement activity internally and externally.
