Description

Title: Wausau, WI - Financial Analyst
Summary:

We have an immediate need for a contractor to fill this role due to a maternity leave. This will be a 12 week assignment to start in early to mid March.
The ideal candidate has worked for a publicly traded company and is used to stringent month end deadlines. The ideal candidate will be a Master at Excel, will be able to form good relationships with the department managers and will have an accounting background. The system is called Great Plains, familiarity with this is desired, but not a must have.
SUMMARY
Develops and evaluates financial plans and performs financial analyses to support the requirements of the business. Presents conclusions and recommendations from these analyses. Evaluates contracts and determines proper revenue recognition in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ensures that proper revenue recognition of contracts occurs. Prepares revenue and gross margin forecasts and assists in the budgeting process. Serves as a resource for the company with regards to revenue recognition issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Analyzes plans and processes to determine projected results and opportunities for improvements.
2. Performs special financial studies for management.
3. Makes presentations to and discusses with management, as appropriate, plans and programs which have been analyzed for cost effectiveness, profitability and opportunities for improvement.
4. Leads the financial planning process including preparation of the annual budget, forecasts and assists in the long range/strategic planning for the company.
5. Prepares various financial management reports.
6. Responsible for administering and maintaining budget.
7. Evaluates all contracts and determines proper revenue recognition.
8. Ensures proper accounting for revenue.
9. Serves as a resource for company in revenue recognition subject matter.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance.
Three to five years related experience in finance or accounting.
CPA preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Standards regarding software revenue is preferred.
Excellent technical knowledge of financial statements and financial analysis techniques.
Strong analytical and presentation skills including high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
